| 内容記述 | Japanese rose (Rosa rugosa) is considered to be suitable as a roadside plant in urban areas, if heat tolorance could be introduced into it. To collect breeding materials from natural habitats, a field investigation in Tohoku and some other regions was carried out in 1990. Dwarf plants with many vigorous stolons and basal shoots were collected in Aomori and Akita Prefectures. On the other hand, tall plants with a small number of flowers and many dead branches were collected in the southern part of Miyagi and Niigata Prefactures. Tall plants also occurred in Tottori and Ibaraki Prefactures, the southernmost districts along the Sea of Japan and the Pacific coast of Japan for the growth of the plant, respectively. A total of 101 plant stocks were collected as seeds or cuttings including natural hybrids (R. X iwara) between R. rugosa and R. multiflora. These plant stocks are propagated, evaluated and preserved. | |||||||||||
