| 内容記述 | Okinawa prefecture is the southern most in Japan, The climate is subtropical and its culture is strongly influenced by both Japan and China. Okinawar's cuisine is unique and vegetables which are very rare on seldom eaten in the rest of Japan are grown and eaten in Okinawa. Cucurbitaceae vegetables such as luffa, bitter gourd, wax gourd and squash are often eaten, however, some kinds of change have occurred accompanied by the recent trends in eating habits. Influenced by the extensive cultivation of F_1 hybrid varieties, landraces of bitter gourd and wax gourd are rapidly disappearing. Although MAFF already carried out exploration for landraces of bitter gourd in Okinawa prefecture in 1995, MAFF again carried out exploration of PGR of Cucurbitaceae vegetables with the cooperation of the Horticultural Experiment Station of Okinawa Prefecture in 1997. The mission conducted exploration in the southern part of Okinawa main island, on Miyako island, Ishigaki island, Yonaguni island and Hateruma island. The mission collected a total of 47 accessions including 18 accessions of luffa, 3 of bitter gourd, 4 of wax gourd, 21 of squash and 1 of cucumber. | |||||||||||||||||
