| 内容記述 | Four outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) occurred from March to May, 2000 in Miyazaki and Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, the first cases for 92 years. The outbreaks of FMD shocked the animal health and livestock sectors into panic, but strongly warned that the animal health skills were very important in Japan. Almost all sectors including the Civil Service did their best for the eradication of the FMD. The National Institute of Animal Health also established a task force team immediately and concentrated on the eradication of FMD. As a result, the FMD was finished on June 9, 2000 and the OIE reauthorized Japan at once as a FMD free country on September 26, 2000. These facts showed that we had worked quickly and cooperatively for the eradication of FMD in the whole country. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 2000年3月, わが国で92年ぶりに口蹄疫が発生し, 畜産関係者を震撼させた. 今回の発生は, 2道県, 4戸の農家にとどまったが, 家畜衛生と防疫の重要性を世に知らしめる大いなる警鐘となった. 本病の発生から終息に至るまで, 行政機関をはじめとして, 畜産関係者, 獣医師, 各種団体, 研究機関等がそれぞれの立場から最善を尽くした. とくに, 家畜衛生試験場は, 口蹄疫の発生に際して, 診断, 抗体検査, 疫学調査, 各種対策委員会や現地における技術的アドバイスなど多方面にわたり, 海外病研究部を中心に全場的な支援体制のもとで全力をあげてそれらに対応した. その結果, 本病の発生は2000年6月9日をもって終息し, さらに, 同年9月26日, 国際獣疫事務局（OIE）によって「日本は口蹄疫に対する清浄国」として再び認定されることになった. これは, 国, 地方自治体をはじめ, 獣医, 畜産関係者が一丸となって, 口蹄疫の防疫対応にすばやく取り組んだ結果にほかならない. | |||||
