内容記述 | Bunching onion (Allium fistulosum L.) varieties were classified according to some morpho-logical and ecological traits, but the distinction of many varieties currently localized in Japan has not been verified based on objective data. In 1997 and 1999-2000, 157 accessions of bunching onion and wild relatives were cultivated, and several traits related to morphological and growth characteristics were investigated. We observed significantly positive correlation between traits related to plant length and between traits related to plant thickness. Significantly negative correlations between scape length, tillering number and width of flattened leaf blade, diameter of pseudostem at the middle, and width of flattened scape were detected. Relative growth rate (RGR) in midwinter was positively correlated with RGR in midsummer to early winter, and was negatively correlated with RGR in early spring. Pseudostem length, diameter of the pseudostem, and width of flattened leaf blade were positively correlated with RGR in early winter to midwinter, and were negatively correlated with flowering time. As a result of a principal component analysis of nine morphological traits, the cumulative contributing ratio of the primary component and secondary component, the former informing plant thickness and latter informing plant length, was approximately 67%. A scatter diagram of the primary and secondary components indicated some specific clusters according to conventional variety classifi-cation. As a result of a principal component analysis of seven growth habits, foreign accessions and varieties belonging to the 'Okunegi' group were plotted specific positions. Based on the survey data, we selected standard varieties representing the domestic variety classification and picked out the standard character of each of the varietal categories. Similar results were obtained when nine morphological traits of 27 standard varieties were investigated in 2003 and their data was applied to the formula for primary and secondary component conducted from the analysis of data of 157 accessions. The principal component obtained from our data and standard varieties representing each varietal category would be useful as a reference for objective evaluation of characteristics of bunching onion varieties. | |||||||||||
