These monitoring missions were the second activity followed by the monitoring mission conducted in Ibaraki prefecture in 1999. We visited 5 towns and 6 villages of Aizu district and 1 city, 1 town and 2 villages of southern district of Fukushima prefecture and surveyed 40 regions totally. These regions are mostly located at mountainous areas. We re-visited the farmer's houses which we had visited in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1992 and had interviewed local farmers about the cultivation of crop landraces at their farmland. We had inquired the same farmers whether they maintain the cultivars that we had previously collected at the first collection. As a result, legumes such as azuki bean, soybean and French bean are relatively conserved on farm, but millets, such as foxtail millets and barnyard millet were eroded completely. According to the comments made by local farmers, the reason for abandoning on farm conservation of crop landraces in these districts is mostly aging of the farmers, particularly, female farmers who have been mainly engaging on farm conservation. It is concluded that on farm conservation of crop landraces in Japan is becomong more and more difficult to maintain and a urgent exploration/collection of the landraces and effective ex situ conservation is very important.}, pages = {1--15}, title = {福島県における作物在来品種の残存調査}, volume = {17}, year = {2001}, yomi = {ナガミネ, ツカサ and ナカヤマ, ヒロキ and エバナ, カヲル and アキバ, ミツノリ and オオミズ, トヨシ} }
