The exploration areas were Punjab Province and the NWFP. The itinerary and the trip route of exploration is shown (Table 2 and Fig. 1), respectively. The collections were made at an altitude ranging from 300-1,700m. Great genetic variability in wheat was observed especially at high-altitude. The indigenous wheat cultivars were highly diverse for traits such as plant height, spike length, spike colour and awnedness.
