However, the number of native peach varieties rapidly decreased in recent years. It is necessary to collect and preserve them as a genetic resources. The present exploration for native peaches were carried out at Okayama prefecture from August 31 to September 1 in 1993. During this exploration, scions for bud grafting were collected from 11 trees and fruits were also collected from 7 trees. Fruit weight varied from 10. 7g to 33.8g. Freestone and clingstone types were observed. One sample was nectarine.
