During the exploration indigenous diploid species of Fragaria, F. iinumae, F. nipponica, F. yezoensis, F. vesca and some Potentilla species were collected. The fruits of these Fragaria accessions were very small (less than 1.0 g) but displayed an attractive red color and a strong fragrance.
