However, the association between personality traits and metabolic syndrome remains controversial, and few studies have been conducted in East Asian populations. \n\nMethods: We measured personality traits using the Japanese version of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (Revised Short Form) and five metabolic syndrome components-elevated waist circumference, elevated triglycerides, reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, and elevated fasting glucose-in 1,322 participants aged 51.1±12.7 years old from Kakegawa city, Japan. \nMetabolic syndrome score (MS score) was defined as the number of metabolic syndrome components present, and metabolic syndrome as having an MS score of 3 or \nhigher, in accordance with the American Heart Association/National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Scientific Statement. \n\nResults: Mean (± standard deviation) personality scores were higher in participants with (N=241) than without metabolic syndrome (N=1,081): 6.1±3.2 vs. 5.6±3.1 for “extraversion”, 3.0±1.6 vs. 2.8±1.6 for “psychoticism”, 6.7±2.5 vs. 6.1±2.7 for “lie”, respectively (all P<0.05). In multiple regression analyses adjusted for age, sex, education, income, smoking status, alcohol use, and family history of CVD and diabetes mellitus, only “extraversion” was associated with MS score (coefficient=0.12, P=0.0003). \nIn multiple logistic regression analysis with the same adjustments, “extraversion” was also positively associated with metabolic syndrome (odds ratio = 1.13, 95% confidence interval = 0.97-1.31; P=0.1). \n\nConclusions: Higher “extraversion” scores tended to be related to a higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome and higher MS scores.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10001_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Elsevier"}]},"item_10001_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type":"isVersionOf","subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.1016/j.jpsychores.2018.01.013","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_10001_relation_16":{"attribute_name":"情報源","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"SC40201804180031"}]},{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"NARO成果DBa"}]}]},"item_10001_relation_17":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"Journal of Psychosomatic Research"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jpsychores.2018.01.013","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_10001_relation_18":{"attribute_name":"他の資源との関係","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"author manuscript"}]}]},"item_10001_rights_15":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"2018 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
