The selections, Tsukuba 49 to Tsukuba 53, are all resistant to black spot disease caused by Alternaria gaisen, have good fruit quality and are self-compatible except for Tsukuba 50.\nThe suitability of selections for advancement as new varieties was determined based on their performance in the trial. Tsukuba 49 was discarded because of its small fruit size and the frequency of water core. Tsukuba 50 was released as ‘Natsushizuku’. Tsukuba 51 was discarded because of its high fruit juice acidity. Tsukuba 52 was discarded because of its small fruit size.
