Ume Tsukuba 7 was designated as cultivar 'Suiko' because its fruits are large and fruit liquor and juice extracted by osmosis of sugar solution possess an excellent taste. Ume Tsukuba 8 was judged to be unsuitable for cultivar designation because of lower productivity than 'Nankou'. Ume Tsukuba 9 also was judged unsuitable because of lower productivity than 'Orihime'.
