Created in 1983 by crossing 'Tsukuba' and '524-1'('Riheiguri' ×'Kuri Hiratsuka 24'), it was selected as a promising tree in 1991. Since then, it has been subjected to the 5th local adaptability test as 'Kuri Tsukuba 35' conducted at 19 experimental stations in 17 prefectures in Japan. It was designated and registered as 'Kuri Norin 7' on October 9, 2001, and also registered as No.12071, under the Seeds and Seedlings Law of Japan on June 4, 2004. The tree has a spreading form and intermediate vigour. The length and thickness of shoots is intermediate, same as 'Ishizuchi'. While it exhibits an average amount of female inflorescence, its yield is a little lower than 'Tsukuba'. It ripens around late September to early October, usually between 'Tsukuba' and 'Ishizuchi', but in some years it ripens at the same time as 'Tsukuba'. Sometimes it shows graft incompatibility. The burr is flat globular in shape, smaller than 'Tsukuba'. The rates of polyembryony and pericarp bursting are low. The nut shape is rounded triangular. Kernel weight is about 23g on average, a little lighter than 'Ishizuchi'. The specific gravity is larger than 'Tsukuba' and 'Ishizuchi', and the nut is mealy.
