Early growth in the field was the most important factor influencing subsequent growth and uniformity of growth at harvest. To suppress the dispersion of the individual early growth of seedlings after transplanting, 1) techniques to promote uniform growth and quality of cabbage plug seedlings, and 2) cultivation techniques to ensure uniform cabbage growth at transplanting time, were developed.
