Radioactive pollution of pastureland was announced in Iwate Prefecture on May 13, 2012, leading us to record radioactivity levels both in pastures and in beef from steers fed this forage at our research center. Four steers were fed on pasture grass during the summer of the accident, and then fed in a shed on grass silage during the winter. The animals were slaughtered in April of the following year, and radioactivity levels were measured in the liver, heart, Musculus trapezius (MT-muscle) and M. semitendiosus (ST-muscle). The residual radioactive cesium levels in the pasture grass and grass silage were 101 and 61 Bq/kg, respectively, based on an 80% moisture content in the sample, and those of the liver, heart, and MT- and ST-muscles were 6.0, 9.5, 17.3 and 23.1 Bq/kg in fresh samples. The contamination levels in all samples were under the criterion for cesium in food set by the government.\n","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"},{"subitem_description":"東北地方太平洋沖地震後の東京電力福島第一原子力発電所における原子炉事故により岩手県でも広範囲の放射性物質の拡散と降下が確認され、県内産の農畜産物への汚染が懸念された。そこで、当センター内において原子炉事故後と同年に放牧・肥育した肥育牛より得られた可食部位の放射性物質を測定し、事故前年に放牧・肥育したものと比較した。その結果、事故前の半腱様筋については放射性セシウム (Cs-137、Cs-134) およびヨウ素 (I-131) はいずれも不検出であったが、事故後の半腱様筋、僧帽筋、肝臓および心臓の放射性ヨウ素 (I-131) は不検出であり、放射性セシウム (Cs-137+Cs-134) はそれぞれ平均23.1、17.3、6.0、9.5 (n=4)
