One and 6 independent T_0 plants were obtained, respectively. Former progenies exhibited SbDV resistance two months after inoculation by aphid. It was considered that these plants acquired the resistance to SbDV by an RNA-silencing-mediated process. Among the latter 6 transgenic lines, progenies of one line were subjected to further extensive analysis of SbDV-resistant response. In T_1 plants, the segregation of transgenes was confirmed, and three different lines were obtained. After inoculation of SbDV by the aphids, most T_2 plants of these lines remained symptomless. One transgenic line among the three lines acquired, presumably, resistance to SbDV by the RNA-silencing-mediated process from the threshold model.
