The objective of this explration was to introduce winter hardy ecotypes of forage grasses into Japan. A total of 70 seed samples consisting of 16 samples of orchardgrass, 15 of meadow fescue, 35 of timothy and 4 of other grasses were collected in waste grassland and old pastures (Table2). The passport data of the collected materials are summarized in Table 3.
