Hachirou' is a new Japanese apricot (Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc,) cultivar released in 1997 by the National Institute of Fruit Tree Science, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.'Hachirou' resulted from an open pollinated seedling of 'Jizouume'. The tree is medium in vigor, spreading in shape, bears many spurs and flower buds with self-fruitfulness, and with high yield. The fruit is medium in size, round in shape with little red blushing. The flesh texture is medium, with cling stone. The ratio of stone and fruit weight is medium. Pickles show good quality. The fruit matures in mid-June in Tsukuba. 'Hachirou' is recommended for processing to pickles.
